Join the AIDPH Board of Directors
The American Institute on Disparities in Public Health (AIDPH) is seeking thoughtful, committed leaders to join our Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to help guide a growing national organization working at the intersection of public health, research, education, and advocacy to eliminate health disparities. We are building a board that reflects both professional expertise and lived experience, is grounded in the communities we serve, and is focused on advancing meaningful, systems-level change.
What Our Board Does
A nonprofit board is responsible for the long-term health, integrity, and direction of an organization. At AIDPH, the Board of Directors helps ensure our work stays aligned with our mission, remains sustainable, and is positioned for impact.
AIDPH board members:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight
- Uphold fiduciary responsibility and financial accountability
- Support and evaluate organizational leadership
- Serve as ambassadors and advocates for AIDPH’s work
- Help strengthen partnerships and expand visibility
- Contribute to long-term sustainability and growth
Members are expected to actively engage and contribute their expertise to strengthen the organization.
Applying for the Board
We are intentionally building a board with a range of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. We welcome individuals with both professional expertise and lived experience, especially those connected to the communities at the center of our work, including rural communities, veterans, LGBTQIA+ communities, and people with disabilities.
In addition, we are particularly seeking individuals with experience in:
- Expertise and experience in our health issue areas, including mental health, oral health, women’s health, and chronic disease.
- Legal and compliance
- Public policy and advocacy
- Finance and financial oversight
- Nonprofit governance
Interested candidates are invited to complete a brief application, which includes questions about their experiences, interests, and perspectives.
Selected applicants may be invited for a follow-up conversation with current board leadership.
