Join AIDPH for our Veteran Oral Health Virtual Road Tour

AIDPH is partnering with states on our Veteran Oral Health Virtual Road Tour (VOH-VRT) to share strategies, resources, and place-based solutions for improving the health and well-being of veterans in your community. We are building state champions who are knowledgeable, action-oriented, and equipped with the necessary tools to address challenges in accessing dental care. Through this process, AIDPH is sharing the knowledge we’ve gained from our road tour with other communities and stakeholders nationally, with the intention of scaling interventions at the national level.

Check Out Your State Profile

In 2023, AIDPH developed a snapshot of health outcomes for all 50 states. These two-page resources serve as a conversation starter to identify areas of need, build consensus for directing resources, and inform decision-makers in your state and local communities. Hosted at vetdentaldata.org, these state profiles are coupled with research publications, data dashboards, and clinical education content so that you’re prepared with data and resources in advocating for veterans.

What is included in a VOH-VRT Stop?

AIDPH makes it easy for our partners to host a VRT stop. Each VRT session includes national context for veterans accessing dental care, an overview of your state’s profile, and actionable ways to apply the data in your community. We foster discussion, include polls for engagement, and give continuing education credits. We record each session and post them on the AIDPH Academy for you to access content asychronously, and we’re always happy to circle back on questions or ideas. We provide each state with a promotion toolkit, graphics, and we co-promote registration to ensure we’re recruiting a diverse range of stakeholders during each stop.

Read the State Summaries and Replicable Successes for our Tour Stops

By embedding national resources into state-specific conversations, AIDPH created space for unique local insights to emerge. Some states highlighted successful models of care or innovative programs that could be replicated elsewhere. Others identified urgent barriers that required policy or funding solutions. Together, these conversations built a mosaic of lessons that now inform not only state advocacy but also national strategies for improving veteran oral health. This report is intended to highlight the outcomes of these tour stops by providing a brief overview of insights and activation points that states may choose to replicate as they identify opportunities to improve veteran oral health. This summary document will remain dynamic as AIDPH continues to bring our Virtual Road Tour to states across the US, so please check back frequently to learn more about place-based solutions.
