We're heading to the Hill March 27-28, 2023
Accessing routine dental care is challenging for many veterans — only 15% are eligible for dental care through the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). It’s even harder for veterans living in rural communities. AIDPH in partnership with CareQuest Institute for Oral Health and other Veteran Service Organizations is hosting an in-person Veteran Oral Health Hill Day to educate policy makers on the benefits of expanding access to dental care for veterans.

This in-person event will take place in Washington, DC, on March 27th and 28th, 2023. A travel day and evening reception is planned for March 27th with training and office visits planned for March 28th.
Limited funding is available for participants who demonstrate financial need and have barriers to traveling without financial support. The planning committee will use this interest form to determine how funding can be allocated to support as many people as possible to attend the event.
Our plan is to educate policymakers about the need to improve access to oral health care for Veterans. As advocates, we are recommending change in expanding access through the Veterans Administration and a pilot program for chronic disease conditions; we are also advocating for a study to evaluate cost savings due to expanded access. We are not communicating with decision makers (elected officials and staff) about existing or potential legislation, or urging any votes for or against.
