The Pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges for health care providers, including dentists. Ethical considerations about access, allocation of scarce resources, maintenance of records, infection control and ideal treatment settings arise. This interactive session will explore ways to ethically address these challenges and consider ethical responses to the unique issues raised by the Pandemic. Learning Objectives: - Describe ethical and professional obligations of dentists during regional or world-wide emergencies and times of crisis, such as the COVID-19 Pandemic. - Understand ethical dilemmas presented by the Pandemic including allocation of scarce resources, risk of infection and inadequate PPE and limited staffing. - Develop ethical strategies to face the challenges of the Pandemic. - Understand why, during a public health emergency, balancing community/societal interests with individual interests is necessary.
