AIDPH has been carefully considering our response to the COVID-19 outbreak. As a national public health organization, we are dedicated to supporting our oral health community.
• We hope you are implementing all of the suggestions provided by the CDC and WHO on rigorous hand washing and other personal hygiene habits that can reduce your chance of both contracting and spreading COVID-19.
• Many scientific projections of this pandemic explain the need to socially distance (at least 6 feet away) and reduce unnecessary contact. Organizations that have flexibility should consider teleworking or shifting work patterns to reduce the number of people in close contact with each other. AIDPH maintains a virtual working environment and supports our team members working flexible hours to accommodate.
• Dental clinicians should be paying special attention to guidance provided by the American Dental Association to keep themselves and their patients safe. The Surgeon General is recommending all non-essential health procedures be limited or postponed. Dentists are at the highest risk among healthcare professionals according to recent data.
We are looking for ways to partner with our network, including other national organizations, during this time of uncertainty.
If AIDPH can support you and your work, feel free to reach out to me at cothron@aidph.org.
Looking forward to connecting with you more as we move through this time together as an oral health community.
Sincerely,
Annaliese Cothron
